Title

Pat Turner: Nonington College of Physical Education

Subject

Pat Turner

Description

Londoner Pat Turner attended Nonington College of Physical Education in the Kent village of Nonington in the 1970s. In this interview excerpt, Pat describes why she decided to attend a physical education college, what it was like to live away from London for the first time, and her experience of college - and village - life. Pat, an accomplished swimmer, also spoke about the decline of designated physical education colleges (including Nonington - the college closed in 1986), her fondness for her swimming instructor, and the scourge of woolen tights!

Pat went on to teach PE in London, before moving into sports development.
